BREEDING OF PURE RACE CAMARGUE HORSES AT GRANDES CABANES DU VACCARES
Started in 1928, breeding is for the selection of Camargue horses intended for work with the bull herd.
Hardiness (ability to live outdoors all year round) strength, stamina and the agility to separate bulls are the primary qualities required of a Camargue horse.
Mesures of standard male: 1m48 - 1m50.
STANDARDS OF THE BREED
Here are a few characteristics of a Camargue horse:
Head square in shape with a slightly convex profile.
Large jowl.
Ears short with a broad base.
Broad deep chest.
Shoulders short and straight
Strong legs.
Short back and haunch.
Stature ranges between
1.40m and 1.50m.
Weight ranges between
350 and 450 kg.
